Our Mission Statement

"The world's oldest security system" has historically also been man's best friend. Dogs' ability to bond with humans has created a mutually beneficial relationship between the species. Their superior abilities of detection through the sense of smell and hearing, dogs have proven invaluable to humans in many aspects.
As time went on, man encouraged the development of specific abilities and characteristics in canines, which resulted in the numerous different dog breeds that exist today. One specific goal in this development has been the dogs' ability to guard and protect both man and property.
Today with proper training, canines are exceeding our expectations but this is only valuable when the human handler is equally trained and capable. Liability is a concern in our society, often due to the lack of understanding, improper handling and irresponsible handler behavior. In order to obtain the most proficiency and safe partnershipwith the dog, the K9/Handler team must be prepared for multiple challenges.
So just how do we test to see if K9 and Handler are ready?
In order to truly assess the team's ability we must create a competitive scenario which resembles a real life situation. This cannot be done effectively if the competitor knows where the attack is coming from. In addition the dog cannot be tested for courage if he/she has done the exercise over and over. The answer is a protection tournament with multiple decoys, sequestered scenarios and evaluation for both dog and handler.
The answer is Texas K9 Team Classic!
